Digital Media Literacy (DML)

Digital Media Literacy is the ability to locate, organize, understand, evaluate, and create information using digital technology.  I have taken Phase one and Phase two of digital media literacy.  I learned quite a lot from these classes.  I thought I knew about computer programs but I found out that I didn't know hardly anything.  I have learned and am very comfortable working on blogs with images, doing research on many websites to find information, and talking on SKYPE.  I also learned how to communicate on different topics and able to voice my opinions. We learned about computer hardware, software and Internet which is needed to connect with the different things and happenings in the world today.  Just about everything is technology so you need to know all you can.  As of June 16, 2011, our Digital Media Literacy sessions will end.  We would like to take the other phases but it is said there is no funding for this program.  My question is how can you find funding for other things but no funding for people that wants and are interested in learning?  Mr Patrick Walker is our instructor and he has done an excellent job with this class.  The classes were so interesting that when it came time for each of our sessions to end we wanted to stay longer.  We will miss our classes and Mr Walker, so if there is any funding anywhere can you give it to Digital Media Literacy and Mr Patrick so we can continue.

  1. I'm equally disappointed that our journey to communication freedom is disrupted to no fault of the group. The process was priceless because we all learned from each other. Perhaps our efforts would be allowed to continue if more voices share their concerns. I have outline by position in one of my blogs (i.e. http://criticaldigitalliteracy.blogspot.com/2011/06/who-listen-when-community-members.html)
